Jade Care and Cleaning
Tips for jade care:
Avoid bumping on hard surfaces as jade is delicate. Although sometimes a crack cannot be seen by the naked eye, the interior structure may have been damaged.
As with most jewelry, jade should be kept free from perspiration, cosmetics, lotion , dust and dirt. The brightness of jade risks corrosion, especially emerald and other high quality jade, so it is better to wipe the jade with a soft piece of warm, damp cloth to remove body oils or dirt (which may harm the colors) after use.
Do not expose jade to sunlight for a long time, or it may expand and the quality will change slightly.
Be sure to store your jade in a fabric-lined case or in a box with dividers or separate compartments—the jade’s surface may be scratched by other jewelry, as well as each other. And keep it in an area of humidity to protect it from over-drying.
